Musicians of the King’s Road revives the tradition of musical soirées, Musikalisk Soirée, that were commonly held in the town in the 1800s. After the Great Fire of Turku in 1827 these concerts often took place at Societetshuset (Society House), nowadays known as the Turku City Hall. The City Hall is no longer a concert venue as it mainly functions as official reception rooms of the city and as meeting place for the city council. This first Soirée will, however, exceptionally be held in the von Troil Hall of the City Hall.
In the concert Musicians of the King’s Road performs a typical 1800s chamber music programme. One of the performers is Beata Antikainen, finalist in the XII Turku Cello Competition.
